The King of all cheeses! Parmigiano Reggiano has a spicy and piquant flavour. This hard Italian cheese, is is mostly grated or shaved and added to pasta dishes, soups, risotto and it is a classical addition to beef Carpaccio.
In Italy, small pieces of this cheese are served as canapes and drizzled with aged balsamic vinegar.
Storage: Parmigiano Reggiano is best stored whole, and grated/shaved when need to preserve the strong aroma and to ensure a longer shelf life. Wrapped in grease-proof paper and aluminium foil, it can be stored for 1-2 months and even longer.
